Setting up Logitech Scribe
Today we were tasked with setting up Logitech Scribe. Scribe is a peripheral device used for sharing a whiteboard in either a registered Room or with any desktop video application such as Teams or Zoom.
Scribe also comes with a share button which is likely used to share between registered Rooms, but since we do not have one of those it is instead use to confirm that it works as intended and boundaries are set correctly. This allows the whiteboard to be presented not just as shown on any camera but like a shared screen.
Scribe gives options for the presenter to be either translucent or transparent so text is easier to see for all users. When the presenter is translucent there is significantly less lag in writing on the board to appear on the screen. Colours and quality of the screen are enhanced, and sticky notes are also suitable to use since Scribe use image segmentation to recognise them on the board.
Setup requires pairing with the share button and the main camera. This is done by holding the pair button on the camera for 10 seconds until it makes a 'bloop' noise and flashes blue. Then you have to press the share button 10 times for them to pair. You also have to install Logitech Sync to manage logitech devices like Scribe and configure the camera settings for it, allowing you to edit the boundaries. These are already recognised by the AI technology but can be configured here.
It took us a while to get through and may not be worth the over £1000 cost. Scribe is probably better suited to Teams Rooms or Zoom Rooms, but that requires buying a package.
